A Journey of Strength, Love, and Hope
In the heart of Lagos lives Mercy, a bright and beautiful 13-year-old girl whose presence fills her home with warmth. Mercy has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and is non-verbal. She requires full support with every part of daily life eating, dressing, positioning, safety, and comfort. Though she cannot speak with words, her expressions are full of emotion, and her eyes reflect a quiet strength that touches everyone she meets.
Mercy lives with her devoted mum, her hardworking dad, and her two caring siblings. Their home is built on love, sacrifice, and determination.
Her mum is Mercy’s constant anchor patient, gentle, and deeply attentive to her needs. Every day is filled with feeding routines, medications, seizures that require monitoring, repositioning, calming, and endless care. Her strength holds the household together.
Her siblings have grown into compassionate helpers beyond their age. They bring toys to make Mercy smile, support with simple routines, and offer the kind of love only children can give so naturally.
And her father a man of quiet resilience leaves home early each morning to work long hours. He does everything he can to meet the family’s needs: medication costs, transportation to clinics, food, essentials, and the continuous expenses that come with raising a child with complex needs. Some days he comes home exhausted, but he still makes time to greet Mercy, gently touch her hand, or sit by her side. His love is shown through action, sacrifice, and the determination to provide.
Yet despite their strength, the challenges are heavy.
The cost of epilepsy medication, therapy, safe equipment, and daily necessities stretches the family thin. They face each day with courage, but also with the quiet worry of how to manage tomorrow.
When our charity learned about Mercy’s situation, we knew we had to reach out not from a place of pity, but from shared humanity and the belief that no family should struggle alone.
Our goal is simple:To lighten the load, provide practical support, and help Mercy live with dignity, comfort, and joy.
Whether through essential supplies, therapy access, safe positioning equipment, nutritional support, or simply being a consistent source of care and community, we want Mercy and her family to feel seen, supported, and valued.
Mercy is not defined by her conditions. She is a child full of presence, connection, and a unique spark that shines through her challenges.
And together, with compassion and community, we can make her world brighter, safer, and more hopeful—one step at a time.
